About this guide
Andermatt, Switzerland - 2022

The Tweed rises in the hills above Moffat and runs 113 miles east to the sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed. In 2028 it becomes one of Britain's great long-distance cycling routes.

This site is where I'm building the guidebook that will accompany it.

I'm Mark Blair, based in Berwick-upon-Tweed, so I live at the finish line. I came to this project via a source-to-sea ride of my own: a couple of years ago I cycled from the source of the Rhine to the coast at Rotterdam, which gave me a taste for following rivers by bike and a clear sense of what a good route guide actually needs to contain.

I'm now riding the Tweed in sections, researching the towns, cafés, charging points, and stories along the way, and turning it into an independent guidebook for bike riders who want to explore the Borders at the right pace.

The guidebook publishes in 2027, ahead of the trail opening. This blog documents the journey of making it: the rides, the research, and everything I discover along the way.
